Dae Dae became a father when he was just 14 years old. After achieving fame, he started dating rapper and social media influencer Ti Taylor. Not much is known about his family background except the fact that his parents separated when he was very young.

Dae Dae was born Marquavis Goolsby on July 29, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. He was raised in Atlanta’s Boulevard Fourth Ward, where he developed passion for music. It all began at the age of eight, when his estranged father gifted him music CDs of Lil Romeo and Bow Wow. Though his father, John Burton, hadn’t maintained a healthy relationship with his wife and son, he did support Dae Dae in his quest to achieve musical fame.
When Dae Dae was just 14 years old, he dropped out of school and indulged in a life of pleasure. He became a father at the age of 14. John Burton did his best to support Dae Dae by converting one of his rooms into a recording studio. However, before Dae Dae could make use of it, the studio equipment was confiscated by the cops when John could not provide receipts for the purchase. John Burton was arrested on charges of possessing illegal drugs in his home.
Having lost all his equipment and hope, Dae Dae realized that he had to start from the scratch, upon which he took up concrete and flooring jobs. He started saving money, which he used to record songs at a local studio. He also took part in open mic nights, held at various nightclubs and pubs.
In 2013, he was featured in one of Bubskee’s singles titled ‘Get Rich.’ His effort and determination eventually took him to Anthem, who was a business acquaintance of an Atlanta based record producer, Nitti. After having impressed Nitti with his rapping skills, Dae Dae went on to secure a record deal by signing with ‘Nitti Beatz Recordings.’
Dae Dae started writing a song in 2015, while working in odd jobs. This song later became famous as ‘Wat U Mean.’ ‘Wat U Mean’ was written on his iPhone when he was freestyling the lyrics in his mind to kill the boredom at work. After finishing work, he called his producer to discuss this, and he asked Dae Dae to record the song straightaway. Later that day, ‘Wat U Mean’ was recorded and was subsequently released in 2016.
Dae Dae started hogging the limelight post the release of his debut single. The popularity of the song kept on increasing, especially after it was remixed by Young Dro. According to Shazam, an app developed by ‘Shazam Entertainment Ltd,’ ‘Wat U Mean’ was identified as the top song in Atlanta. A dancer named Matthew King released a dance video of the song in May 2016, which went viral on social media platforms, further increasing the song’s popularity. It was also performed live by Dae Dae at the 2016 ‘BET Hip Hop Awards.’
The popularity achieved by Dae Dae’s debut single earned him an opportunity to collaborate with ‘300 Entertainment.’ He then released his debut mixtape titled ‘4 Reasons,’ which had cameos from popular rappers, including the critically acclaimed rapper Rich Homie Quan. In February 2016, Dae Dae came up with another hit single titled ‘Spend It,’ which was bankrolled by Young Trill Beatz. The song was later remixed by 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, which increased its popularity.
In May 2016, Dae Dae joined the likes of Rich the Kid and TM88 for Young Thug’s ‘Hi-Tunes’ tour across the United States. In July 2016, rapper Lil Yachty was featured in the official remix of ‘Wat U Mean.’ In August 2016, Dae Dae released his third single titled ‘Dej Loaf’ and on November 4, he came up with an album called ‘The DefAnition,’ which featured songs like ‘Love Life Pages’ and ‘Woke Up.’ Later that year, the official music video of ‘Spend It’ was released to the public and was very well received.
The year 2017 started on a positive note for Dae Dae as he released another single titled ‘Dem Days.’ By now, Dae Dae’s popularity had reached newer heights as he was mentioned in ‘FACT’ magazine’s list of ‘10 Rappers to Watch in 2017.’ On July 28, 2017, Dae Dae released his third album ‘5 Reasons,’ which had hit tracks like ‘In The Trap,’ ‘Came A Long Way,’ ‘Keep It Movin,’ etc. In 2018, he released a song titled ‘Bae With Me’ along with his girlfriend, Ti Taylor.
In June 2016, Dae Dae’s hit single ‘Wat U Mean’ peaked at number 24 on Billboard’s ‘Twitter Emerging Artists’ chart. Dae Dae’s other hit single ‘Spend It’ peaked at number 13 and at number two on ‘Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles’ chart and ‘Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles’ chart respectively.
