Colin Ford was born on September 12, 1996, in Nashville, Tennessee, US. Not much information is available about his parents. It is, however, reported that he has a younger brother. He studied at ‘Campbell Hall School’ with his ‘We Bought a Zoo’ co-star, Elle Fanning, and graduated in June 2015.
He had an inclination towards working in front of the camera from his early childhood. He got his first modeling assignment at the age of 4 in Atlanta, Georgia, and appeared in print advertisements. With his good looks and talent, he modeled for several regional and national retailers.
Ford made his film debut at the age of 5, as ‘Clinton Jr.’ in the 2002 film ‘Sweet Home Alabama.’ In this romantic comedy about a fashion designer torn between two men, he shared the screen with veteran actor Reese Witherspoon.
In 2003, he portrayed the role of ‘Lloyd Christmas’ in the film ‘Dumb and the Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.’ This was followed by the 2004 film ‘The Work and the Glory’ in which he performed the role of ‘Matthew Steed.’ He appeared in ‘Moved’ in the same year.
In 2005, he was a part of an important photo-shoot for ‘W Magazine’ with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He got a guest starring role in Tom Welling’s TV series ‘Smallville’ (2005), for which he traveled to Vancouver with the cast. In 2005, he reprised the role of ‘Matthew Steed’ in the second part of ‘The Work and the Glory II: American Zion.’
In the 2007 escapade movie ‘In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale,’ Ford played the role of ‘Zeph’ while Jason Statham and Claire Forlani essayed the roles of his parents. During the same period he worked as a voice actor for the films, such as ‘The Ant Bully’ (2006) and ‘Christmas is Here Again’ (2007). In the latter, he gave his voice to ‘Dart the reindeer’ and performed with other such artists as Kathy Bates, Andy Griffith, Jay Leno, Shirley Jones among others. He received a nomination for his work in this film.
He got a major break as ‘Jackson Patch’ in the 2008 movie ‘Dog Days of Summer,’ wherein he co-starred with Will Patton. He also played lead role as ‘DJ’ in the movie ‘Ticket Out’ (2010).
Ford was nominated three times for the ‘Young Artist Award’ – for ‘Best Performance in a TV Series,’ for the series ‘Journeyman’ (2008), for ‘Best Performance in a Voice-over Role’ for his performance as ‘Dart the Reindeer’ in the film ‘Christmas is Here Again’ (2009), and for ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film – supporting actor’ for the film ‘Lake City’ (2009).
He received the ‘Young Artist Award for Best Performance in TV Series for Recurring Young Actor (Age 13 and under)’ for his work in ‘Supernatural’ (2010).
In 2011, he won the ‘Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a DVD Film – Young Actor’ for ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’
He earned the 2012 ‘Young Artist Award in a Voice-over Role – Young Actor’ for his voice performance as ‘Jake’ in the ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates.’
