Her first child, a son, was born through her relation with American rapper Future in May 2014.
On July 6, 2016, she married Russell Wilson, quarterback of ‘Seattle Seahawks’. The couple together has a daughter, Sienna, born on April 28, 2017.
Her philanthropic and charitable endeavours include contributing and featuring for the song ‘Just Stand Up!’ in September 2008 for ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ event and working with ‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’. She also became face of ‘Do Something 101’ campaign of Dosomething.org in 2009.
Ciara Princess Harris was born on October 25, 1985 in Austin, Texas, to Jackie and Carlton Clay Harris as their only child.
Her father was with the United States Army s a result of which she grew up several army bases including New York, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Germany. Her family later moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
According to her, while in her teens, she watched Janet Jackson and American girl group ‘Destiny's Child’ perform on television which motivated her to take up music.
She went on to form an all-girl group ‘Hearsay’ with two friends and started recording demos. However, differences led to disbandment of the group when she was fifteen following which she commenced on a solo musical journey and concentrated on her song writing.
She signed a publishing deal in the capacity of a songwriter and started writing songs for the likes of Mýa and Fantasia Barrino. Her first success came with the song ‘Got Me Waiting’ for Barrino’s first album ‘Free Yourself’.
Following her graduation, she signed a record contract with ‘LaFace Records’ with the help of Pha.
On June 8, 2004, ‘LaFace Records’ released her debut single ‘Goodies’ as the lead single of her first studio album bearing same title. The song that was co-written by Ciara with Craig Love, Jefferson, LeMarquis and Sean Garrett and produced by Lil Jon featured American rapper Petey Pablo.
The breathy vocals of Ciara as also the whistling chunk beat of the single garnered appreciation from the critics. The single topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 7 weeks marking such feat for a debut single by a female singer after 1977.
It also topped the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, the US Rhythmic Top 40 chart and the UK Singles Chart and gave her the title "First Lady or Princess of Crunk&B".
On September 28, 2004, her debut studio album ‘Goodies’ was released through ‘Sho'nuff Records’ and ‘LaFace Records’. The concept of the album came from her debut song ‘Goodies’ that was developed as a female crunk counterpart to ‘Yeah!’, a song by American singer Usher.
