Christopher Bryant Velez Munoz was born on November 23, 1995, in New Jersey, to Leonardo Velez and Yenny Paulina Munoz Jaramillo. Even though he was born in the US, Christopher lived in Loja, Ecuador, until he was 18 years old. He attended ‘La Salle’ and graduated from the same.
At the age of 18, he returned to the US to support his family. He had planned to move to another country to study music, but his financial condition did not allow so. To keep his interest in music alive, he used to upload his covers and music on his YouTube channel.
While he was working in New Jersey, he got an opportunity to audition for a new show called ‘La Banda,’ co-created by Ricky Martin and Simon Cowell. That’s how his career in music began.
He was selected as a participant in ‘La Banda’ and with time, became a favorite among the audience. He received 85% of the audience vote for the song ‘Tal Vez’ in front of Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, and Alejandro Sanz during the audition.
He was selected for the show and continued making progress with each episode. On December 15, 2015, he became the first winner of the reality show.
He ruled the hearts of his audience as they supported him all through the show. The winners of the show signed a five-year contract with ‘Sony Music Latin’ with Ricky Martin as their representative.
The group ‘CNCO’ was formed on the finale of the show. The group’s name was inspired from Spanish word ‘Cinco’ which means ‘five.’
On the finale night, they performed ‘Devuélveme Mi Corazón’ together and received good wishes from ‘One Direction’ through a video conference.
In August, 2016, ‘CNCO’ was voted as the ‘Billboard's "Favorite New Latin Boy Band’ along with ‘CD9 second’ and ‘Dvicio Third.’
