Charlie Schlatter

Charlie Schlatter was born in Englewood, New Jersey on May 1, 1966, and grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He went to Ithaca College and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater.

He married Colleen Gunderson on May 7, 1994, and together they have three children, Julia Marie (born in September 1997), Quinn (born in November 1999), and the youngest, Beck Frederick (born in 2002).

Charlie Schlatter’s first ever appearance in the show business came in 1988 after one of the casting directors of the film ‘Bright Lights, Big City’ had spotted him a year before in a performance and encouraged him to go for an audition. He played the character of ‘Michael’, the younger brother of the male protagonist in the film. Later that year he appeared in the film ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and played the character of ‘Johnny Wolfe,’ the man who kidnapped Elvis Presley to impress his mother in the film.

He then worked in his most important film till date, the comedy ‘18 Again!’, directed by Paul Flaherty in which he played the character of ‘David Watson / Jack Watson’. In this film, he showcased his brilliant acting skills which earned him a lot of praise from the critics. In the early 1990s, he landed his first television role, portraying the title character in the American sitcom ‘Ferris Bueller’. In this series, he appeared alongside Jennifer Aniston.

After making some appearances in films and television movies, Schlatter was signed for the role of ‘Dr. Jesse Travis’ in ‘Diagnosis: Murder’, an American comedy/mystery/medical crime drama television series created by Joyce Burditt. He appeared on the show for six seasons and acted alongside the legendary singer, actor, and dancer, Dick Van Dyke with whom he later became good friends. In the next phase of his acting career, he appeared in several television shows and films including ‘Ed’ in 1996, ‘White Rush’ in 2003, ‘Resurrection Mary’ in 2007, ‘Goliath’ in 2016, and ‘Feud’ in 2017.

Charlie Schlatter, the father of three children, has also worked as a voice artist in his career and has given voice to numerous animated characters, much to the joy of his kids. He first worked as a voice artist in ‘Captain Planet and the Planeteers’, voicing the character of ‘Hoggish Greedly, Jr.’

In the next two decades he voiced some of the most popular characters in the animation world, including ‘Wally West / The Flash’ in ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ (1997), ‘Chip’ in ‘Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring’ (2002), ‘Cameron’ in ‘Bratz’ (2005–06), ‘Hawk and Stingfly’ in ‘A.T.O.M.’(2005-07), Kevin Levin and Devlin Levin in ‘Ben 10’ (2006–07), ‘The Flash’ in ‘The Batman’(2007-08), Doctor Mindbender, Wild Bill, and Lift-Ticket in ‘G.I. Joe: Renegades’ (2010–11), ‘Tim Drake / Robin, The Flash’ in ‘Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite’ (2013) and ‘The Flash’ in ‘Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts’ (2015).

He has also provided voice for videogames like ‘Shellshock: Nam '67,’ ‘EverQuest II’, ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’ (voice of Major Raikov), ‘Neopets: The Darkest Faerie’, ‘Ape Escape Academy’, ‘Ape Escape 3’, ‘Over the Hedge’, ‘Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops’ (Raikov), ‘Spider-Man 3’, ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’, and ‘Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham’.
