Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born on November 29, 1977 in Anderson, South Carolina, the USA as the only child of Carolyn and Leroy Boseman. His father worked in the textile industry and ran an upholstery business while her mother worked as a nurse.
Boseman attended T. L. Hanna High School and then graduated from Howard University in 2000 with a BFA degree in directing. He then attended London’s British American Drama Academy. After Boseman returned to the US, he enrolled at New York City's Digital Film Academy. At the start of his career, he worked as a drama instructor at the Schomburg Center for Research in New York.
