Strong started her career with regular performances at the Second City Conservatory and IO Chicago with fellow members on cruise ship.
Cecily Strong made her television debut in 2005 with a small role in the series ‘Mad TV’. However, with the success of her performance in ‘Saturday Night Live’, she appeared in other successful television series such as ‘The Awesomes’ in 2013 through 2015, ‘Angie Tribeca’, ‘Years of Living Dangerously’, ‘ Netflix Presents: The Characters’, ‘Superstore’ and ‘Scream Queens’ in 2016 and ‘Detroiters’ in 2017.
She quit as the co-anchor of Weekend Update on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in its 40th Season to concentrate completely on her sketch performances and continues to remain a part of the show’s regular cast.
Following her movie debut in 2012, Strong continued working in movies. Her notable movie roles include ‘The Bronze’, ‘Slow Learners’, ‘The Meddler’ and ‘Staten Island Summer’, all in 2015 and ‘The Boss’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ in 2016.
Her success on ‘Saturday Night Live’ landed her a plump contract as the featured entertainer at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in 2015 and her performance garnered good response.
In 2017, she appeared in the comedy movie ‘The Female Brain’, directed by Whitney Cummings. Strong essayed the role of Zoe in the movie, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Cecily Strong appeared in an episode of ‘Detroiters’ in the comedy series starring Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson. The series, aired on Comedy Central in early 2017, is all set to return with a second season in 2018.
