Cathy Nesbitt Stein was born on April 19, 1959 in Canton, Ohio. Not much is known about her early life including her educational background or even her family life. Cathy was an entertainer right from her childhood and loved to dance, her favourite style being ballet. Her hobbies include golfing, reading, designing vintage decorations, gardening, and shopping. Her favourite movie is ‘Gone With the Wind’. Cathy married Mike Stein, an insurance adjuster. He also owns a Beef Jerky store, which was showcased in one episode of ‘Dance Moms’. When tourists flock to her studio, the Stein family’s beef-jerky store also experiences ‘additional’ footfall due to its proximity to the studio. Although the couple do not have any biological child, they adopted a girl from Guatemala and named her Vivi-Anne. Like her mom, Vivi-Anne too is an accomplished dancer.
Cathy Nesbitt Stein is a reality television star who rose to fame after being featured on the super hit show, ‘Dance Moms’. An adoptive mother, Cathy was an entertainer right from the beginning. Her love for dance took her to the dance reality show and since then, there has been no looking back for this performing artist.
She owns a dance studio named ‘Candy Apple's Dance Center’, where her daughter Vivi Anne received training as a tap dancer. Subsequently, Cathy enrolled her into Abby Lee Miller’s dance studio ALDC, but the mother-daughter duo ditched the same after first season of ‘Dance Moms’ to return to their home studio. Ever since leaving ALDC, Cathy has continually feuded with Abby and other members of the ALDC which gained her ‘negative’ publicity.
She was known for getting into arguments and exchanging insults with members of ALDC at various competitions. Her impulsive nature was also caught by the camera. What’s worse was that people started believing that her daughter’s success got into her head as she caught a fight with almost everyone else who participated in the show. What’s even terrible was that starting third season, she involved her husband Mike Stein in the feuds as well, who was also seen quarrelling in his rare but unmissable appearances. However, if reports by Zack Torres are anything to go by, he has quoted Cathy as a ‘very sweet person’ who is made to look like a ‘villain’ courtesy show editors. Viewers are purposefully made to hate Cathy in the show, but in reality there is a lot of positive things about her that her students and their mothers also stand by.
