Catherine Hickland was born on February 11, 1956 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, to Mary and Arthur Hickland. She has a sister as well as a brother. She attended Fort Lauderdale High School and later on enrolled at Florida Atlantic University. However, Hickland dropped out from there after two years to operate as a flight attendant for National Airlines before venturing into acting.

She first got married to Richard Knowlton. This marriage was short-lived and ended soon in a divorce. The actress was then married to actor David Hasselhoff from 1984 to1989. In 1992, she married actor Michael E. Knight with whom she lived till 2006. This union too ended in divorce. Then in 2012, Hickland married Todd Fisher.

Catherine Hickland first appeared in an episode of the 1978 drama ‘Vega$’. She then appeared in the flick ‘The Last Married Couple in America’ and in the TV film ‘To Race the Wind’ in 1980. The same year, she was cast as Courtney Marshall in the series ‘Texas’. After this, the actress guest-starred in the dramas ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘Capitol’. Then in 1986, she performed on stage, in the play ‘Les Misérables’. A year later, she guest-starred in two episodes of ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’.

In 1988, Hickland got featured in the horror movies ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘Witchery’. She then appeared as Linda in the 1992 play ‘Run for Your Wife’. From 1995 to 1996, she played the role of Tess Wilder Partou Huston in the series ‘The City’. Then in 1998, she began portraying the character of Lindsay Rappaport on ‘One Life to Live’. During this time, Hickland also did several television films.
