Carissa Adee

Carissa Adee was born on April 17, 2003, in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, US. Her family was initially based in Austin, Texas, but moved to Atlanta later. Carissa was the third daughter of her parents. Her eldest sister, Brooke, is an established singer and social-media personality. Her other sister, Ashley, is a popular “Instagramer.” The Adee sisters have a brother named Austin. All the three sisters are friends with MattyB, and they often accompany each other on tours and concerts.

Carissa loves listening to different genres of music. She hardly misses any live concert. She attended Shawn Mendes’s live concert in July 2017.

Apart from music, Carissa is interested in sports too. She plays the team sport lacrosse and follows football too. A pet lover, Carissa owns two cute sugar gliders. She also has a dog named Lana.

Carissa discovered her singing talent when she was quite young. She grew up watching her elder sister, Brooke, who is now an established singer. Carissa trained in music while she continued with her academics. With time, she grew more passionate toward singing and decided to make it her profession. Brooke, who was already on her way to be a music sensation over the internet, helped her sister a lot. Brooke helped Carissa get acquainted with the popular rapper Matthew David Morris, better known as MattyB, with whom Brooke had collaborated a number of times. Carissa too began her career by singing cover versions of popular tracks. She later stepped into ‘YouTube’ to showcase her talent to a wider audience. Soon, she began creating collaborative videos with MattyB and posted them on ‘YouTube.’ Their first hit collaboration was the cover version of the hit track ‘She Looks So Perfect’ by ‘5 Seconds of Summer.’ When MattyB heard the song, he loved it and decided to make a duet cover with Carissa. The video has been viewed by more than 53 million people to date. They performed the cover at the ‘5 Seconds of Summer’ concert in Atlanta.

After this, there was no looking back for Carissa. She soon created more covers with MattyB, and all of them became immensely popular. Another of her notable works with MattyB was the cover of ‘See You Again,’ a hit track by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth. The video received an overwhelming response, garnering over 66 million views. MattyB and Carissa also feature in the cover versions of the hit tracks, ‘Same Old Love’ by Selena Gomez and ‘Bad Blood’ by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. Carissa has worked on a few solo covers too. Her first solo music video was the cover version of Ed Sheeran's hit song ‘Thinking Out Loud.’ It was her favorite song of the season. She has also sung the cover versions for ‘Wildest Dreams,’ by Taylor Swift; ‘Roses,’ by ‘The Chainsmokers’; and ‘Same Old Love,’ by Selena Gomez.

Carissa and MattyB have delivered many live stage performances together. For instance, in 2015, they performed the cover for ‘Talk Dirty,’ originally performed by Jason Derulo, in Boston. They have collaborated on challenge videos too. They have appeared in a number of challenge videos such as ‘What's In My Mouth,’ ‘The Warhead Challenge,’ and ‘Mystery Drink Challenge.’

In April 2015, MattyB announced that he would by helping Carissa in producing music videos and that he had plans to come up with more collaborative work. He also promoted Carissa’s self-titled ‘YouTube’ channel. The channel has now earned more than 130 thousand subscribers. She is equally popular on ‘Instagram,’ where she posts her eye-catching photographs. Her account on ‘Instagram’ has garnered over 190 thousand followers.

In 2014, Carissa made her acting debut with the horror short film ‘Little Monsters.’ She portrayed the best friend of the lead character, ‘Sarah,’ played by Alie Urquhart of ‘House of Cards’ fame.
