Brooke Elliott was born on 16 November 1974, in Fridley County in Minnesota to Kathleen and Robert Elliott. According to her parents, she started singing as a 3-year old and videotapes of her singing “You Light Up My Life” has been carefully preserved. Elliott attended a high school in Riverview, Michigan as a junior and earned her graduation in 1993 from Gabriel Richard Catholic School.
While studying in Gabriel Richard Catholic School, she acted in several plays produced by the academic institution including ‘The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘Joseph’, and ‘Richard III’.
Elliott attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Performance in 1998. Brooke is unmarried and very tight-lipped about her personal life, and strongly supports the cause of woman’s empowerment.
After earning a ‘B.A. in Fine Arts’ from Western Michigan University in 1998, she worked as a waitress in a theme-restaurant (where she was even required to dance atop tables). After some time, she shifted to Chicago in 1999 and found employment as a cast member in a theater firm named ‘Babes with Blades’. She worked for a total of 10 weeks with the theater company and the highlights of her role comprised enacting and reproducing scenes from ‘Heathers’, ‘The Miracle Worker’, and ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’.
She bagged her first major role as a professional theater thespian when she was chosen to be a part of the touring cast of ‘Beauty and the Beast’-a Walt Disney production. She was also featured alongside Adam Lambert in the US tour of Broadway musical ‘Wicked’. Adam Lambert, later on, got an opportunity to demonstrate his singing skills in ‘American Idol’ for which he received support and encouragement from Brooke Elliott.
Rosie O’Donnell, producer of the musical show, ‘Taboo’, helped Brooks get a part in the theater which was her first ‘Great White Way’ role where she performed with Boy George. Rosie was not very satisfied with Brooke’s performance but gave her another opportunity to reenact her part in a better way. Though the Broadway show ultimately closed after the same was performed 100 times, Brooke was effusively praised by Rosie for playing her part passionately.
Elliot Brooke got to portray the character of Majella in the play, ‘The Pirate Queen’, which started being staged in Chicago from 2006 and moved to Broadway in 2007.
She made her film debut in the Mel Gibsom movie ‘Woman in Park’, in 2000. She debuted on television in 2009 when she starred in one of the episodes of ‘Law & Order: Trial by Jury’.
