Brendon Urie was born in St. George, Utah, on 12th April 1987 to Grace and Boyd Urie as their fifth and youngest child. His family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when he was two. He was raised as a Mormon, but at the age of 17, he left the faith.
Urie studied at Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas. He met Brent Wilson in his guitar class. They eventually formed the band ‘Panic! At the Disco’. Though Ryan Ross was initially the lead singer, Urie replaced him later as his vocal abilities were found to be more impressive.
Brendon Urie married Sarah Orzechowski in 2013; the couple had been engaged since 2011.
Brendon Urie and his band ‘Panic! at the Disco’ released their debut studio album in 2005. The album, ‘A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,’ was a commercial success. It covered topics such as marriage, adultery, mental health, and alcoholism. The song ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ was a huge hit and stood at the 7th position on the US Hot 100. It also entered the charts in countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, Belgium and the UK.
In 2008, the group released their second album ‘Pretty Odd’. Though it was met with mixed reviews, it became a huge hit, reaching the 2nd position on the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. The album included singles such as ‘Mad as Rabbits’ and ‘Northern Downpour’. In 2011, the band released their third album titled ‘Vices and Virtues’. It was a commercial success, reaching the 7th position on the US Billboard 200. It also entered the charts of various other countries.
The band’s next album ‘Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!’, released in 2013, was a huge success as well, reaching the second position on the US Billboard 200. The same year, he sang in front of Barack Obama and Billy Joel when the latter received the Kennedy Center Honors.
In 2016, the band released ‘Death of a Bachelor’, which debuted at the first position on the US Billboard 200, becoming their first album to reach that position. The album was nominated in the category of ‘Best Rock Album’ at the Grammy Awards. Their album ‘Pray for the Wicked,’ which was released in 2018, was also a major success, reaching the 1st position on the US Billboard 200.
In 2009, Urie wrote a song for the soundtrack to the black comedy horror film ‘Jennifer’s Body’. In 2015, he penned a song for the SpongeBob SquarePants musical. Urie starred in the musical ‘Kinky Boots’ from May to August 2017. He portrayed Charlie Price, one of the main characters.
