Brandon Mychal Smith born at
Brandon was born on May 29, 1989 in Los Angeles. He is of African – Scottish decent. He presently lives in Los Angeles and is known to be very close to his parents and younger sister, who is also into acting. He attended Billy Mitchell Elementary School, University High School and Hampton University.
During his younger days he was an avid roller skater and always wanted to be a star in show business. While in school, he played Young Simba in the Pantages theater stage production of Lion King.
Though social media has linked his name to a few supposedly girlfriends, he is in a long term steady relationship with the Canadian actress, Maggie Castle, whom he met during the filming of the movie ‘Starstruck’ in 2009. Though they have been living together for some time there is no talk of engagement or marriage. His social media status is still very much single.
Brandon started acting as a child artist at the tender age of eight, when he first appeared in a national commercial for Nike with Tiger Woods. The commercial was aired over a period of time and the advertisement posters with the famous golfer made Brandon a little star among his peers.
His professional career as an actor started in 2002, when he was offered the role of Darren Junior in an episode of the television series ‘The District’. The following year he appeared as Lamar Harris in an episode of ‘Kim Possible’.
The Nike boy made his film debut at the age of 15 as a skater in the movie ‘Grind’ in 2003. The role was given to him because of his childhood passion for roller skating at which he is still very good.
Before his film debut, he did a few minor roles in commercials and TV serials. Though he was more of a Television artist, his other major roles in films include James in ‘Weapons’ (2007), The Lord of Da Bling in ‘Let it Shine’ (2012), Kaz in ‘Sacrifice’ (2014), Donavan in ‘Hoovey’ (2015) and Tyrone in the 2016 super hit comedy ‘Dirty Grandpa’. His latest appearance was as Roy Collier in ‘The Most Hated Women in America’ (2017).
His major break came with his performance as Tayshawn in the Emmy Award nominated television movie, ‘The Ron Clark Story’ (2006) that won him a Family Television Award and Young Artist Award in 2007.
