Brandon Dylan Ashur was born on September 9, 1985, in Jefferson, Kentucky, USA. He had stated that he does not know who his father is, and that his mother is not a good person as she never took care of him. When his mother ended up in prison, his relatives took care of him. He was then adopted by a country musician. While in high school, he lost interest in education. Due to this, he was put in a school where ‘undesirables’ were sent. There too, he did not show any interest in studies and always played EverQuest on his laptop. He was badly bullied by his fellow students; his money was stolen and his laptop was broken by them. When he was 17, his first girlfriend cheated on him and left him devastated.
When he was 18, he fell in love with his friend’s 15-year-old sister. They talked online and messaged each other. However, one morning, he was arrested for his provocative chat with a minor. He landed in jail and was charged with Class B felony for unlawful transaction with a minor. He was sent to a therapist's class for pedophiles. After this incident, he was mentally shattered, and confined himself to his house for ten years. He reportedly became suicidal as well.
Later, he began to date Clara Swan, also known as ‘ClaraBabyLegs’, a fellow YouTuber. On May 4, 2015, Brandon and Clara uploaded a video on Brandon's channel, where they stated that in September 2014, Clara had a miscarriage. In the video, they apologized to each other. However, on May 2, 2017, Clara posted a tweet stating that she and Brandon were no longer together.
Brandon Dylan Ashur started his first YouTube channel Bashurverse on April 1, 2010.
He uploaded Minecraft content every day on this channel and created Minecraft series like ‘Magical Modded Minecraft Morning’, ‘Love Craft’, ‘The Legend Of Hobo’, ‘99 Diamonds Challenge’, and ‘SkyFactory.’ His videos earned him an impressive number of subscribers and over the years, his channel garnered over 1.6 million followers.
After the success of the first channel, he launched his second channel BashDoesThings on July 3, 2014. His web series Bashpack and The Legend of Hobo became immensely popular. He called his fans ‘Melons’ or ‘Goonies’ instead of viewers or subscribers.
In 2015, he tweeted saying that he was “depressed and suicidal”. That same year, there were rumors that when Brandon was 23 years old, he had raped a 10-year-old girl. Although he was visibly troubled by the rumor, he told his viewers through a video that he would continue “to do YouTube.”
In April 2017, Brandon blacked out both his YouTube channels and removed his profile picture and banner. He also made all his videos private. At the same time, he deleted his Twitter account, and a month later, he deleted his Twitch and Facebook accounts, both of which had by then amassed significant numbers of followers.
In 2015, rumors surfaced that when Brandon Ashur was 23, he had raped a 10-year-old girl. On April 8, 2015, Brandon uploaded a video in reply to these rumors in which he claimed that he was done with the curses he received as a result of these rumors. After 30 minutes, he deleted the video, but it was soon re-uploaded by several other users.
On April 18, 2015, he uploaded another video in which he told his fans that he will continue to be active on YouTube. In the video, he often broke down. Even though he received several hate comments, many of his fans also offered to help him to make him feel better.
On October 1, 2015, Brandon tweeted that he was depressed and suicidal because he was constantly called a pedophile and a rapist. Brandon also claimed that he was dealing with mental health issues. He tweeted that people send him death threats and tell him that he should kill himself.
