Betsy Russell was born as Elizabeth Russell on September 6, 1963 in San Diego, California, USA, to Constance and Richard Lion Russell. Her maternal grandfather, Max Lerner, was a journalist and educator. She has a brother and three sisters. Russell attended Mission Bay High School and graduated from there in 1981. She then studied at the University of Santa Monica for a master’s degree in spiritual psychology. She is also a certified hypnotist and well as a life coach.

The couple got married on May 27, 1989 in North Hollywood and had two sons, Richard Van Patten and Vincent Van Patten, Jr. The couple got divorced in 2001. Betsy Russell first appeared on television in the 1982 drama series ‘The Powers of Matthew Star’. Her first film role was in the 1982 flick ‘Let's Do It’. After this, she did the flick ‘Private School’. Then she appeared in the series ‘The A-Team’ and ‘Adrian Prescott’. In 1985, the actress was cast in the movies ‘Avenging Angel’, ‘Tomboy’ and ‘Out of Control’. The following year, she made guest appearance in the drama series ‘Murder, She Wrote’ and ‘1st & Ten’ respectively.

Russell did the TV film titled ‘Roxanne: The Prize Pulitzer’ in 1987. She then played supporting roles in the movies ‘Camp Fear’, ‘Delta Heat’, ‘Amore’ and ‘The Break’. Then from 2000 to 2010, the American beauty worked in a number of big screen projects, such as ‘The Flunky’, ‘Saw III’, ‘Saw IV’, ‘Saw V’, ‘Chain Letter’ and ‘Saw 3D’. She got featured in the direct-to-video ‘Lose Yourself’ in 2012. Russell then played the role of Gayle in the TV flick ‘Non-Stop’ in 2013. A year later, she appeared as Destiny in the movie ‘My Trip Back to the Dark Side’.
