Benjamin Maisani may have gained fame as the partner and romantic interest of Anderson Cooper but there is more to him. Today, owner of three bars with a net, Maisani once worked as a bartender himself, little knowing what fate had in store for him. A book lover, Maisani hardly ever interacted socially and remained confined to his books. Immediately after college, he picked up a job at the Morgan Library in Madison Avenue. The modest pay made him look for better opportunities. He then took up employment at the Barracuda in Chelsea. It was during his service as a bartender in Barracuda that Maisani transformed significantly. Despite beings a night person, he hardly ever interacted. The bar helped him get out of his comfort zone, forcing him to work in a social environment and boosting his self confidence. From being a bartender, Maisani is today owner of three bars in New York City: Easternbloc which is at 505 E 6th St, Bedlam Bar & Lounge which is located at 40 Avenue C and Atlas Social Club, situated on 753 9th Ave. All the three bars are gay bars and have become a favourite place to hang out for the city’s gay community. Interestingly, despite all the media attention and glare that Maisani has received, he personally hates being noticed.
Benjamin Maisani was born on January 27, 1973 in Corsica, France. Belonging to Caucasian ethnicity, Maisani holds both French and American nationality. Completing his preliminary education from France, Maisani moved to New York intending to study filmmaking. He graduated from Hunter College.
Maisani is a private person and does not want any kind of spotlight or attention. He is a gay and is in a relationship with Anderson Cooper since 2009. Currently, Maisani lives with Cooper at a renovated firehouse in Greenwich Village which they purchased in 2009. Apart from this, they own several other homes including a mansion in Connecticut and a waterfront in the Hamptons.
