In 1991, he got into a romantic relationship with Leigh Limon, who is a designer. The couple ended their relationship in the year 2000.
In 2004, he married actress Marissa Ribisi, with whom he has two children. Both of them are believers of Scientology, which they publicly acknowledged in an interview.
Beck was born to David Campbell and Bibbe Hansen. While his father was a Canadian musician, his mother was a visual artist professionally and a former Warhol superstar in Los Angeles, California.
When Beck turned ten, his parents divorced, after which he started living with his mother and brother in Los Angeles.
By the time he was 16, he had his own guitar and soon he became a street musician. During his teenage years, he mostly preferred folk music and later took a liking to hip hop music.
In 1993, he came out with his debut album titled, ‘Golden Feelings’, which was released by the Sonic Enemy label. The label did not make many copies of the CD, a fact which distressed him.
Released in February 1994, his second studio album, ‘Stereopathetic Soulmanure’, had a very strong folk influence. The album featured the tracks, ‘Pink Noise’, ‘Total Soul Future’ and ‘Rowboat’.
In March 1994, he came out with the album, ‘Mellow Gold’, which was his first album with a major recording label, DGC Records. The album is listed in his most successful albums list.
In June 1994, he released the album, ‘One Foot in the Grave’, which brought him critical acclaim. The album also brought him commercial acknowledgement and made him a part of the mainstream music industry.
In 1996, he came out with the album, ‘Odelay’, which was released under the DGC Records label. The album included the hit singles, ‘Where It's At’, ‘Devils Haircut’, and ‘The New Pollution’.
His 2005 album, ‘Guero’ is regarded as one of his highest charting albums, which sold 868,000 copies in the US alone. The album peaked at the number two position on the Billboard’s Top 200 chart.
His 2006 album, ‘The Information’ was named, ‘24th Best Album of 2006’ on the Rolling Stone magazine. The album peaked at the number seven position on the Billboard 200.
