He has two younger sisters named Stacy and Carrie Beth as well as an older brother named Christian. Barry Van Dyke landed a major TV role in 1971 in ‘The New Dick Van Dyke Show’. He then appeared in the TV film ‘Stalk the Wild Child’ following which he appeared in an episode of ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Tabitha’. In 1978, the actor was cast as Stuart Stafford in ‘The Harvey Korman Show’. Two years later, he joined the cast of ‘Galactica 1980’. He also did the TV movie ‘Casino’ the same year.

Soon after this, he guest-starred in the TV shows ‘The Powers of Matthew Star’ and ‘Remington Steele’.He then played Russell Donovan in the series ‘Gun Shy’ in 1983. Three years later, Dyke landed a recurring role in ‘The Redd Foxx Show’. After this he got the opportunity to play the role of Saint John Hawke in the drama ‘Airwolf’. He then appeared as Matt Burgess in ‘The Van Dyke Show’.

In 2002, the actor performed in the television films ‘Diagnosis: Murder: A Town without Pity’ and ‘Diagnosis: Murder: Without Warning’. He then began playing Mike Bryant in the TV film series ‘Murder 101’. In 2008, Dyke was cast as Colonel Burke in the feature film titled ‘Light Years Away’. Two years later, he appeared in the direct-to-video film ‘6 Guns’.
