Avery Winter was born on 22 January 2002, in Lubbock, Texas. She took to singing at age of four and according to her LinkedIn profile, she has performed live 600 times from 2009-2014. Her career as a singer took off at Cactus Theater in Lubbock where she was a member of the Cactus Itty Bittys band.
Presently, she performs as a soloist belting out country tracks and uploads her recordings on her YouTube channel.
Avery Winter was born and brought up in Lubbock, the county seat of Lubbock County in Texas. She displayed an innate penchant for singing when she was hardly 4 years old. Her career as a singer started at the Cactus Theater in Lubbock in 2006 when she was too young to attend even kindergarten classes.
Avery took singing lessons at the theater before performing onstage in front of a live audience. She also practiced yodeling and by the time she was six, she had become a skilled yodeler.
It was while performing at the Cactus Theater that she befriended two other kids, Brooklyn Elbert and Kassidy King who too were good singers. The three youngsters joined forces, forming a group, ‘Avery and the Calico Hearts’, and took to performing on a regular basis at Cactus and across West Texas.
The kids got on well with each other, hanging out together during their spare time and going on shopping trips. They expressed a desire to leave on a global musical tour and have a rendezvous with the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber.
Avery and the Calico Hearts turned up for auditioning at the NBC studios for the 610th episode of ‘America’s Got Talent’ in 2011. The trio was told to perform “Baby” by Justin Bieber in concert. Piers Morgan, one of the celebrity panelists on the show voted “No” while both Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne voted “yes”.
The “yes” votes of Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel sent the group to the subsequent round that was held at Las Vegas. All acts voted to perform in the Vegas Round were classified into three distinct groups. Avery’s group categorized under ‘Standby Acts’ section was put in the ‘Kid Acts’ grouping.
Avery and the Calico Hearts were asked to sing a cover of “It’s Your Thing” in Episode 612. Their unusually stellar performance enabled them to sail through to the quarterfinals of Season 6 of ‘America’s Got Talent’ that was staged in Hollywood from July 12-August 17, 2011.
In the quarterfinals, the trio sang, “I Wish” but their rendition failed to garner sufficient votes to qualify for any of the top five acts eligible to move on to the semifinals. Thus, Avery and the Calico Hearts were eliminated from the singing competition in the 620th episode of America’s Got Talent.
Sharon Osborne gave a lifeline to the group by voting in their favor for the ‘Wild Card’ round. It was the 623rd episode and the team was required to cover Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”. However their performance received a thumbs down from Piers Morgan which put paid to their hopes of progressing to the next round.
