Aston Merrygold was born as Aston Iain Merrygold on 13 February 1988 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. He was raised by his mother Siobhan and stepfather Orjan. He has a sister named Courtney and five brothers including half-brother Connor. Merrygold studied at Jack Hunt Secondary School.
In September 2017, he announced on social media that his fiancée, Sarah Lou Richards, was expecting his baby. On 30 January 2018, the couple’s son Grayson Jax Merrygold was born.
In 2002, Aston Merrygold participated in the talent show ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ and finished in the second place. Then after leaving school in 2004, he was cast in the children’s show ‘Fun Song Factory’. After this, he joined the band JLS. In 2008, the group auditioned for the 5th season of ‘The X Factor’. After finishing the show in the second place, JLS signed a deal with Epic Records and went on to release four albums titled ‘JLS’, ‘Jukebox’, ‘Outta This World’ and ‘Evolution’. On 24 April 2013, the group announced its split.
In 2014, Merrygold was signed to Warner Bros Records. In July 2015, he released the single ‘Get Stupid’ from his unreleased debut album ‘Showstopper’. Soon after this, he released a few more singles: ‘Show Me,’ ‘I Ain't Missing you,’ and ‘Too Late.’
After three more song releases in the year 2017, the British singer released his six-track EP under the name ‘Precious’. The same year, he came out with his single ‘Trudy’. He then went on to participate as a contestant on the fifteenth series of the reality dance competition ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
