ASMR Aspen was born on May 9, 1997, in Iceland. Both her parents are in the military and at the time of her birth, they were stationed at a US military base in Iceland. She has two brothers and a sister.

ASMR Aspen created her channel on April 3, 2015, and her first video, titled ‘Tapping And Whisper ASMR’, was uploaded on August 10, 2017. Since then, she has garnered over three million views in total and more than 34 thousand subscribers. Her content is mostly about ASMR but she has made Q&A videos as well. Often, her videos feature a combination of fashion tips and ASMR. The most watched video on her channel is ASMR ‘Makeup Tutorial’. It was posted on September 5, 2017, and has over 400 thousand views.

ASMR is an acronym for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response which characterizes an experience identified by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and trickles down the back of the neck and upper spine. Often equated with auditory-tactile synesthesia, ASMR stands for the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" defined by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is the believed that ASMR generally gets triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli. However, there are cases where it has been stimulated by intentional attention control. The modern idea of ASMR took shape in 2007 but the concept of it has existed since the 1920s. With the advent of social media, a subculture has developed around it.

According to several studies, the most popular catalyst for an ASMR experience is video. A substantial number of YouTube channels have been set up in the recent years that predominantly produce content on ASMR and quite a few of them have found social media success. Many ASMR channels have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
