Robben was born on 23rd of January, 1984 to Hans Robben and Marjo Robben in Bedum (one of Gronigen’s largest satellite towns) in the north-eastern part of Netherlands. FC Groningen: Robben started to play professionally for the Dutch Professional club FC Groningen in December 2000. He went on to score two goals for the 2000-2001 season and he was also awarded the player of the year title for his first season. He made a lot of impact throughout his association with the team scoring eight goals out of his 46 matches.

PSV Eindhoven: After FC Groningen, he moved to PSV Eindhoven football club in 2002 for euro 3.9 million and scored twelve goals in 33 matches for the 2002-2003 season. He gave a remarkable performance in his first season winning the title ‘PSV Co- Player of the Year’ sharing with striker Mateja Kezman and even won the ‘Talented Player of the Year Award’ for his performance. He helped the team lift the 17th Dutch title. He played 56 matches in total for the club and scored 18 goals.

Chelsea: By 2003, Robben had become one of the most budding footballers in the world and generated a lot of interest among football clubs. He was transferred to Chelsea who paid 18 million pounds to PSV. He started playing competitively for them in November 2004 and developed himself further as a fast attacking player. During his time with the club, he noticed an unfamiliar growth on one of his testicles, and reported the same to the club doctors. He was examined for testicular cancer, but the doctors announced that he was fully fit and there was nothing to worry.

He received the FA Premier League Player of the Month award in November 2004. Robben played a crucial role in the club’s winning of the Premier League Titles of 2005 and 2006 consecutively as well as the League Cup, FA Community Shield and the FA Cup. He scored a total of 15 in 67 matches for Chelsea F.C. and on 23rd December, 2006 he was titled ‘Man of the Match’ for giving the winning goal against Wigan Athletic club.

Real Madrid: Arjen on 22nd August, 2007 signed a contract of 5 years with Real Madrid who paid 35 million pounds for the transfer. With him the club went on to win the UEFA Champions League match against SV Werder Bremen football team on 18th September, 2007and the La Liga title against Barcelonaon 7th May, 2008. He appeared in fifty games for the team and scored a total of eleven goals.

Arjen has had a very successful international career with the national team of Netherlands. He has appeared for 92 for the Netherlands national team scoring 33 goals. As a member of the Dutch team he has played at the Euro 2004, World Cup of 2006, Euro 2008 and 2010 Euro and World Cup. His performance was instrumental in helping his team reach the finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
