Aneurin Barnard was born on May 8, 1987 in Wales, UK, to parents June and Terry Barnard who worked as a factory worker and coal miner respectively. He has a sister named Ceri Selman. Barnard studied at Ysgol Gyfun Llanhari and later on attended Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Aneurin Barnard made his debut on television in the year 2003 by appearing in the series ‘Jacob's Ladder’. Then in 2007, he did a short film titled ‘Owl Creek Bridge’. The following year, he appeared in an episode of ‘Casualty’. Then Barnard played Melchior in the musical ‘Spring Awakening’. This play opened in the year 2009 at Lyric Hammersmith. He then worked in a number of other plays such as ‘The Caucasian Chalk Circle’, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, ‘Hobson’s Choice’ and ‘West Side Story’.
After this, the actor did the short film ‘Elsewhere’ in 2011. The same year, he did many more films and short films like ‘Ironclad’, ‘Powder’, ‘Queen of Hearts’ and ‘Hunky Dory’. A year later, the actor was cast in the television movie ‘We'll Take Manhattan’ as well as in the films ‘Citadel’, ‘Elfie Hopkins’ and ‘The Facility’. In 2013, he starred in the TV miniseries ‘The White Queen’ and ‘Moonfleet’. That year, Barnard also did a handful of movies such as ‘The Truth About Emanuel’, ‘Trap for Cinderella’ and ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.
He appeared in a flick named ‘The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box’ in 2014. He also worked in the television movies ‘Under Milk Wood’ and the mini-series ‘Cilla’ that year. The following year, the actor starred in a TV movie titled ‘The Scandalous Lady W’ and the miniseries ‘Killing Jesus’. Then he appeared in the series ‘War & Peace’ and ‘Thirteen’. In 2017, Barnard performed in several small and big screen projects including ‘SS-GB’, ‘The Devil's Harvest’, ‘Interlude in Prague’ and ‘Dunkirk’.
