Andrew Taggart was in a live-in relationship with ‘Instagram’ star Haley Rowe. Their relationship soured when he made a steamy performance with singer Halsey at the 2016 ‘MTV Video Music Awards.’ However, the couple saved their relationship for a year by being considerate with each other.
They later broke up. Andrew began dating model Christine Burke in 2018. He is active on social media and is currently believed to be single.
Andrew was born on December 31, 1989, in Portland, Maine, US. His mother was a teacher, and his father sold prosthetics. He later moved to Los Angeles, California, to boost his music career.
He studied music business at ‘Syracuse University,’ New York. During this period, he did his internship in music management with ‘Interscope Records.’ He turned to electronic dance music at the age of 15, when he was in Argentina. There, he was introduced to the music of David Guetta and ‘Daft Punk.’ He soon created original tracks and uploaded them on ‘SoundCloud.’
He met Alex Pall in 2012 and started making indie music remixes. His performance impressed Adam Alpert, who managed ‘The Chainsmokers.’ Thus, Andrew replaced Rhett Bixler, a former member of the duo. Soon, Alex and Andrew became the face of ‘The Chainsmokers.’
The duo performed live for the first time as the opening act of the American band ‘Timeflies’ at New York’s ‘Terminal 5’ in 2014.
Andrew and Alex then made a breakthrough with their single ‘#Selfie.’ The number was among the top 20 songs on both the US and the UK charts. ‘The Chainsmokers’ signed a deal with Steve Aoki’s ‘Dim Mak Records.’ ‘#Selfie’ reached the number one spot on the ‘Dance/ Electronic Songs’ chart.
‘#Selfie’ was closely followed by the singles ‘Let You Go’ and ‘Kanye,’ featuring the groups ‘Great Good Fine Ok’ and ‘sirenXX,’ respectively. By 2015, the duo had signed a deal with ‘Disruptor Records,’ a joint venture of Adam Alpert and ‘Sony Music Entertainment.’
Their second sensational hit was the single ‘Roses’ that was released in June 2015. The song achieved the “multiplatinum” status in the US and in many other countries across the globe. They released their debut EP, ‘Bouquet,’ in October 2015. It featured the song ‘Roses,’ along with other hit numbers such as ‘Waterbed,’ ‘New York City,’ and ‘Until You Were Gone.’
In March 2016, ‘The Chainsmokers’ played at the ‘Ultra Music Festival,’ where Taggart publicly denounced Donald Trump, who was then a presidential candidate. The duo achieved the 18th spot on the ‘Top 100 DJs’ list compiled by ‘DJ Magazine’ in October 2016.
Taggart released the studio album ‘Memories...Do Not Open,’ as part of ‘The Chainsmokers,’ in April 2017.
He has contributed to the EPs ‘Bouquet’ (2015) and ‘Collage’ (2016) as part of the duo.
His duo has released 25 Singles, which include hits such as ‘#Selfie’ (2014), ‘Roses’ (2015), ‘Until You Were Gone’ (2015), ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ (2016), ‘Inside Out’ (2016), ‘Closer’ (2016), ‘Something Just Like This’ (2017), ‘Sick Boy’ (2018), and ‘Side Effects’ (2018).
