Alexandra was born on May 15, 1982, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In her early life, she lived in Darien, Connecticut but later moved to Los Angeles. She doesn’t mention her father in public and it is believed that her parents probably separated when she was very young. When she was 15, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue her acting career.
Alexandra dated Bryten Goss back in the days when she was young and it was him who helped her develop a passion for photography. Later Alexandra married guitarist Casey Hooper in September 2015. Together they have a son, Jack Breckenridge Hooper, born in September 2016.
Alexandra Breckenridge started her acting career back in 1998 as a teen actor. After appearing in a couple of minute-long television roles, she guest-starred in the series ‘Freaks and Geeks’ in 2000. Since then she has done numerous guest appearances on television shows like ‘Dawson's Creek’ in 2000, ‘Undeclared’ in 2001-02, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ in 2002, ‘Charmed’ in 2002, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ in 2004, ‘JAG’ in 2004, and ‘Medium’ in 2005. She first appeared in a movie in 2002; playing the role of a sister of a male lead in the film ‘Big Fat Liar’. Alexandra later appeared in movies like ‘She's the Man’ in 2006, ‘The Bridge to Nowhere’ in 2009, ‘Ticket Out’ in 2012, and ‘Zipper’ in 2015.
Alexandra has enjoyed a better and more popular career in the television world than in the film industry. She has appeared as a voice artist in many animated television shows including the public favorite ‘Family Guy’. She was initially called for an audition for a guest character but the creator of the show, Seth MacFarlane, was so impressed with her voice that he decided to give her a bigger role. Later she voiced another show of Seth MacFarlane, titled ‘Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy’.
She witnessed her acting career touch new heights when she was offered a recurring role in HBO’s ‘True Blood’. After that she was signed for the first season of ‘American Horror Story’ wherein she appeared as ‘Moira O'Hara’, the ghost maid trapped in the house in 2011. She again appeared in the show’s third season in 2013. The show ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ showed her as ‘Kaylee’, a young witch. Two years later in 2015, she appeared on the television show ‘The Walking Dead’ as ‘Jessie Anderson’. In 2017 she appeared on the inaugural season of the NBC television series titled ‘This Is Us’. She was initially given a recurring role but later in the following season, she was promoted to a lead cast on the show.
