Alana Stewart

In 1972, Alana married her co-star and actor George Hamilton. They had a son named Ashley Hamilton, who also grew up to be an actor and songwriter. Alana and George divorced in 1975 but kept in touch with each other and worked together even after their separation.

Later, she got married to rock star Rod Stewart, in 1997. They have a daughter named Kimberly and a son named Sean, both of whom are into the show business. Alana divorced Rod Stewart in 1984, when she found out that he was having an affair with a model 15 years younger than her. The breakup had a deep impact on her life, as she always felt that they were a perfect couple. Hence, she decided to retain the surname and did not have any affairs since her separation.

Her ex-husband, George Hamilton, helped her cope with depression by sending her to well-known author Deepak Chopra, who changed her life by introducing her to meditation. She realized the long-term effect of drugs on her life and gave up her vices. She started going to church and began believing in God. She now believes that the only cure to depression is to forgive and forget and get on with life.

Alana Stewart was born as Alana Kaye Collins on May 18, 1945, in San Diego, California, US. She came from a not-so-well-to-do family and had a father who was addicted to drugs. She spent the early part of her life in a small city in East Texas, called Nacogdoches. Later, she moved to Houston, before finally moving to New York to become a model. She graduated from ‘Stephen F. Austin High School,’ Houston, Texas.

During her early career, she signed with ‘Ford Models’ and went to Los Angeles to appear in a number of TV commercials. Later, she moved to New York to pursue a career in acting and modeling. In her memoir, she has disclosed that she was raped at the age of 18 and had a problem with alcohol during her youth.

Alana started her acting career in the early 70s with a minor role in the biographical movie ‘Evel Knievel’ (1971), in which her then-husband, George Hamilton, played the lead role of the daredevil motorcyclist.

This was closely followed by a more significant role in the movie ‘Night Call Nurses,’ in 1972, where she plays the role of a nurse who has an affair with one of her patients. She continued appearing in movies such as ‘Funny Lady’ and ‘Medusa’ till she switched to TV roles in 1977.

She made her small-screen debut in the science-fiction serial ‘The Bionic Woman,’ in 1977. For the next two years, she concentrated on TV roles and appeared in the serials ‘The Love Boat’ and ‘Fantasy Island.’

She later returned to films and was featured in the movies ‘Ravagers’ (1979) and ‘Where the Boys Are ’84’ (1984). Her TV and movie careers progressed simultaneously with her appearance in the serial ‘The Fall Guy,’ in 1985.

Alana and her former husband, George Hamilton, hosted their own syndicate talk show, ‘George & Alana,’ in 1995. The show did not do as well as expected and had to be canceled the following year. She then concentrated on movies and appeared in ‘Mom, Can I Keep Her?’ (1999), ‘Wasted in Babylon’ (1999), and ‘Naked Movie’ (2002). By then, she was a well-known name in Hollywood.

Her major films include ‘Evel Knievel’ (1971), ‘Night Call Nurses’ (1972), ‘Funny Lady’ (1975), ‘Swing Shift’ (1984), and ‘Naked Movie’ (2002).

She has appeared in a number of TV series, such as ‘The Bionic Woman’ (1977), ‘The Fall Guy’ (1985), ‘Farrah’s Story’ (2009), and ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’ (2015).

Her book, ‘My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love, and Friendship,’ which released in 2009, highlights her friendship with actor Farrah Fawcett. She has also written about her relationship with rock star Rod Steward in her memoir, ‘Rear-view Mirror.’
