Adrien met with a motorcycle accident in the year 1992. The impact was devastating and could have even cost Brody his career. However, he recovered after resting for a few months. Since then Adrien has been famous for injuries. He hurt his nose on several occasions, the latest one being during the shoot of the movie ‘Summer of Sam’.
Other than his acting assignments, Brody was also known for his relationship with noted Spanish actress Elsa Pataky. Love blossomed between the two during 2006. Brody even purchased a farm for his then lady love. However, the relationship turned sour later and the couple split in 2009.
Adrien Brody was born on April 14, 1973 to parents Elliot Brody and Sylvia Plachy at New York. While father Eliot worked as a history professor and painter, Adrien’s mother was a photojournalist. Though Adrien was half-Jewish and half-Catholic by birth, he wasn’t closely connected to either religion.
As a child Adrien used to accompany his mother on various assignments for the weekly newspaper ‘Village Voice’ where she worked. He feels that this exposure makes him comfortable in front of the camera.
Adrien first joined the ‘I.S 145 Joseph Pulitzer Middle School’ and later moved to the ‘Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School For Performing Arts’ where he pursued acting classes.
Adrien pursued his higher studies from the ‘Stony Brook University’, except for one semester where he went to Queen’s College in New York.
At the age of thirteen, Adrien appeared in a play which was shown at the ‘Off-Broadway’ theatre in New York. Soon later he was also seen in a film which was aired on ‘PBS Television’.
Adrien’s first feature film appearance was in the 1989 film ‘New York Stories’. Though his role was of less significance, Adrien was lucky to get an opportunity to work on this movie directed by the legendary filmmakers Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Woody Allen.
In the early 1990s Adrien was see in supporting roles in various movies such as ‘The Boy Who Cried Bitch’, ‘King of The Hill’, ‘Natural Born Killers’, and ‘Jailbreakers’.
The project which brought Adrien into the limelight was the 1998 war movie ‘The Thin Red Line’. This movie, which was based on an episode which took place during the World War II, saw Adrien essay the role of Colonel Jeffrey Fife, a character of great importance. The movie went on to win many academy awards and won Adrien accolades for his acting.
In 1999, Adrien was seen in the movie ‘Summer of Sam’ which was directed by the famous Hollywood director Spike Lee. Though the movie received mixed reviews by critics and audiences, Adrien’s work was appreciated.
A role through which Adrien grabbed the attention of audiences across the world was ‘The Pianist’. Brody won the prestigious Academy award in the ‘Best Actor’ category for his role in the film. Adrien became the first actor under 30 to bad an Oscar, a record which remains unbroken till date.
