Adelaide Kane was born on 9th August 1990, in Claremont, Perth, Australia. She grew up in Perth and studied at St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls. She has a younger brother named William who is three years junior to her. Her parents divorced when she was only seven and the siblings were raised by their single mother.
She started performing at the age of three. She danced as well as sang and acted in local shows. She started working professionally from the age of six, appearing in some print advertisements. She eventually moved to TV commercials and also appeared in some children’s TV shows. She then relocated to Melbourne, where she was later selected as a cast member of the TV show ‘Neighbours.’
Coming to her personal life, she had dated Ian Bohen, Connor Paolo, and Toby Regbo in the past. According to some sources, she is currently in a relationship with the British actor Sean Teale.
Adelaide Kane first gained mainstream popularity after her portrayal of Lolly Allen in the soap opera ‘Neighbours’ in 2007. The show has been airing since 1985 and is one of the longest running drama series on Australian TV. Her portrayal of Allen earned her a nomination for the Most Popular New Female Talent. She was next seen in a supporting role in ‘Power Rangers RPM’ in 2009. It was the seventeenth season of Power Rangers, a popular children’s TV show. She portrayed a villainous character named Tenaya 7/15.
In 2010, she played a main role in the TV series ‘Pretty Tough’. The same year, she appeared in her first TV film ‘Secrets of the Mountain’. She made her feature film debut in 2012, in the comedy drama film ‘Goats’ which was directed by Christopher Neil. The film was met with mostly negative reviews. In 2013, she played a role in the third season of the TV series ‘Teen Wolf’. Loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name, it is about a teenager named Scott McCall, who must cope with his new life after being bitten by a werewolf.
She played a main role in the dystopian horror film ‘The Purge’ in 2013. The film was a major success commercially, earning nearly $90 million on a $3 million budget. She played the daughter of a family that is stalked by murderers during the annual night of “The Purge,” when all sorts of crimes are made temporarily legal. The film was met with mostly mixed reviews. She also appeared in three other films the same year, ‘Louder than Words’, ‘Blood Punch’ and ‘A Letter Home’.
From 2013 to 2017, she played the lead role of Mary, Queen of Scots, in the TV series ‘Reign’. The show was met with mixed reviews though it won multiple awards. In 2014, she was seen in the film ‘The Devil’s Hand’.
More recently, she had a voice role in the TV series ‘Dragons: Race to the Edge’ as well as role in the TV series ‘Once Upon a Time’. She was also seen in the 2018 film ‘The First Purge’ which is a prequel to the dystopian horror film ‘The Purge’.
