A special lecture on the ‘5 point Understanding of Climate Change and Corrective Actions’ was held at JSS AHER in Mysuru, followed by a demonstration of a solar bus. The event was organized by the NSS Unit of the School of Life Sciences and inaugurated by Prof. Chethan S. Solanki of IIT Mumbai and Founder of Energy Swaraj Foundation. Prof. Solanki offered a simple 5-point understanding on ‘What’ has changed in climate, ‘Why’ it has changed, ‘Who’ has changed it, ‘When’ to start corrective actions, and ‘What’ an individual and organization can do locally to tackle this global problem. The event aimed to make each person in our country Energy Literate through the es-pal.org portal. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 7, 12 and 13 align with Energy Swaraj Yatra’s activities, and it helps individuals and institutions achieve 100% solar-powered life.

The event was held under the Department of Science & Technology – Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) programme. Approximately 350 students from JSS High School, PU College, and UG and PG Life Sciences students participated. Prof. Solanki, who is known as the ‘Solar Man of India’, talked about his ‘Energy Swaraj Yatra’ and his mission to create awareness and propose solutions to fight Climate Change. He pledged to live in a solar bus with his team for 11 years to achieve this goal.
Prof. Solanki explained the mission of his ‘Energy Swaraj Yatra’ and his aim to make each person in our country Energy Literate through the es-pal.org portal. The portal offers training free of cost, which includes the understanding of energy generation, its consumption, its use, misuse, and inefficient use, opportunities to conserve energy, and how to generate clean energy.
