Chicago White Sox minor league player Anderson Comas has taken to social media to announce he is gay.
“Disclaimer: If you are homophobic, this post may not be for you or maby [sic] yes so you can see we are all important [sic] and we’re all the same…” Comas began his post on Instagram.
“This is perhaps the most personal thing I have ever shared and that is that I am proudly and happily part of the LGTBQ+ [sic] community. I’m also a human with a big soul, I’m respectful, I’m a lover, I love my family and friends and that’s what really matters, I really enjoy my job, being a professional baseball player is the best thing this ever happened to me so i just want to say something to these people who say gay people can’t be someone in this life well look at me i’m gay and i’m a professional athlete so it didn’t stop [sic] me to make my dreams come true, i’m doing this because i want to be an inspiration to those like me who are preparing for their dreams, please don’t listen to those stupid things people say about us, fight for your dreams, believe in yourself and go for it.”

Billy Bean, not to be confused with Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane, and Glenn Burke were the only major or minor league baseball players to publicly come out as gay. Both did so after withdrawing from the game.
This makes Comas the only active player in baseball to be publicly gay.

The comas are coming out publicly now, but Chicago learned of his sexual orientation last year.
“Anderson first shared his news with us last year,” White Sox assistant general manager Chris Getz told The Athletic. “And I was very happy that he was comfortable sharing player development with us. supporting, helping and congratulating a teammate. With his social media post today, we are all so proud of Anderson and how comfortable he is to share such an important personal part of his life so openly. life.”

Comas, a 23-year-old outfielder from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has reached the top of the single-A ball since signing in 2017.
In 21 games last year between Arizona Complex League rookie and Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, Comas had a .169/.192/.394 slant line with four home runs, four doubles and nine RBIs.

Comas fared better in the Arizona Complex League, as he went 10 for 29 with his homers, doubles and RBI all coming in eight games. Once he got to Single-A, he went just 2 for 42 in 13 games for Kannapolis.
