On the morning of February 14, a front-line police officer was stopped by a passerby who had found a woman lying on the pavement at 6400 Buswell Street between Cook Road and Saba Road.

Police later received a report from a second woman who said she was attacked by an unidentified man around the same time that day as she was walking on the sidewalk on the same block.

BC prosecutors have admitted one case of assault. Additional fees are expected.

“The indiscriminate attacks on women in our community are an affront to common decency and goodness. These attacks prompted all Richmond Detachment officers to focus their concerted efforts on identifying, locating and arresting the individual or individuals responsible,” Chief Superintendent Dave Chauhan said in a press release.

“The swift arrest of the suspect in these attacks is the culmination of our commitment to this priority matter. We also want to express our gratitude to the community and media for their support,” added Chauhan.
