Montana Youth Days Event to Develop Leadership Skills in Middle and High School Students
Montana’s middle and high school students are set to attend the 2023 Youth Days event in Missoula this April. The Office of Public Instruction has called on schools across Montana to enroll for the two-day event. This year’s theme, “The Leader Within,” aims to help youth develop leadership skills, promote school safety, and improve mental health skills.
The event will take place on April 16 and 17. Interested participants have until March 31 to apply. The Office of Public Instruction has partnered with Special Olympics Montana to host the opportunity for all middle and high school students, regardless of their abilities.
Superintendent Elsie Arntzen encourages Montana schools to register their students for the event. She believes that it is an excellent opportunity for all students to develop their voice and skills, which are essential to creating positive changes in their schools.
The 2023 Youth Days will feature several speakers, including the keynote speaker Oscar B. McBride. McBride is the founder of McBride Consulting and was a four-year football letter winner at the University of Notre Dame du lac. Other speakers include Kenny Bies, a former counselor from Bozeman, Snpaqsin (Paq) Morigeau, a student from Big Sky High School, Opal Besaw, a student from Flathead Valley Community College, and Levi Horn, a former UM Montana and NFL offensive tackle.
