Zinchenko believes opposition defenders are unfairly targeting Saka and says officials must crack down on his mistreatment.

Saka was on the receiving end of some robust challenges in Saturday’s 4-2 win at Aston Villa as Arsenal climbed above Manchester City at the top of the table.

The 21-year-old reacted angrily to a tackle from behind from Philippe Coutinho and was later booked.

Zinchenko believes the teams are trying to ‘provoke’ Saka and believes the England international is not sufficiently protected.

“Bukayo is an amazing player, all the full-backs in other teams know he’s so dangerous, so they try to provoke him, tackle him and the referees should know that,” Zinchenko said.

“We can talk about [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano [Ronaldo], Neymar and players like that. Referees must protect this kind of player.

“Apart from Bukayo, we have other attackers who are so dangerous and the referees have to be careful, they have to deal with them of course.”
