If you’re using Microsoft Outlook and your inbox is full of junk this morning, it’s not just you: many users are reporting that Outlook spam filters aren’t working…
Whether you access Microsoft Outlook on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad, you may have been woken up by a high volume of spam in your inbox. The edge reports that there seems to have been a problem with the spam filter for a few weeks, but today many are reporting an apparent total failure.
Microsoft’s Outlook spam filters seem to be broken for many users today. I woke up this morning with 20+ junk messages in my Outlook Focused Inbox and spam emails are breaking through every hour today. Many Outlook users in Europe have noticed the same with some on the way to Twitter To complain.
Most messages that make it into Outlook users’ inboxes are clearly spam. Today’s problems are particularly bad after weeks of progressively worsening Outlook spam filtering for me personally.
In addition to normal spam filtering, Outlook offers a Focused Inbox feature, which aims to try to identify important emails — say, from known contacts — and place them in a focused tab, while other new emails appear in the “Focused” tab. Other” can be found. Neither the default spam tracking nor the Focused feature seem to work for a significant number of users.
If this happens to you, you should turn off Outlook email notifications for now to avoid getting notified every time a new spam message arrives.
Microsoft had not responded to this The edge‘s request for comment at the time of writing.
