President Joe Biden paid an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Monday and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, ahead of the first anniversary of Russia’s war on Ukraine later this week.
Biden was previously scheduled to leave the United States for Warsaw, Poland later Monday.
This is Biden’s first visit to the country since the invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022.
Biden is scheduled to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday and will also deliver remarks reiterating US support for Ukraine “for as long as it takes.”
