He stressed that foreign policy is a reflection of what happens at home and is also a driver of what happens at home. Jaishankar expressed confidence that India would emerge as a leading power in ‘Amrit Kaal’ and move towards becoming a developed nation, citing economics, demographics, skills, and technology as factors pointing in that direction. He urged the youth of the country to prepare and position themselves for the global workplace in the next 25 years. The Minister also spoke about the Centre’s initiatives in various sectors during the last decade that have helped families living in poverty. Additionally, Jaishankar highlighted that national campaigns such as Digital India, Jaljeevan Mission, Swachch Bharat, Startup India, and Beti Bachao Beti Padao have become a part of the national effort to achieve global goals by the end of this decade.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered the 29th leadership lecture of T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) at Manipal in Udupi on the topic, ‘India in Amrit Kaal.’ He emphasized that the progress or failure on the domestic front is equally important when it comes to dealing with international relations. He pointed out that no country can be respected internationally if it is just doing average at home. The Minister stressed that foreign policy is a reflection of what happens at home and is also a driver of what happens at home.
Jaishankar expressed confidence that India would emerge as a leading power in ‘Amrit Kaal’ and move towards becoming a developed nation, citing economics, demographics, skills, and technology as factors pointing in that direction. He urged the youth of the country to prepare and position themselves for the global workplace in the next 25 years, by which time India would complete its centenary of independence. Jaishankar emphasized that there would be an integration of technology at the global level, which is being driven by digitally-driven change that is bringing about a silent democratic revolution in the use of technology in India.
The Minister also spoke about the Centre’s initiatives in various sectors during the last decade that have helped families living in poverty. Since the pandemic broke out, around 800 million people in the country have been receiving food support for the past two-and-half years. According to the Minister, this has been a key factor in dealing with the social consequences of the pandemic. About one-third of the population in the country is now receiving pensions and 415 million people are getting money in their bank accounts. Additionally, around 30 million houses have been built for the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana.
Jaishankar also highlighted that national campaigns such as Digital India, Jaljeevan Mission, Swachch Bharat, Startup India, and Beti Bachao Beti Padao have become a part of the national effort to achieve global goals by the end of this decade. He visited the Sri Krishna Mutt in the temple town of Udupi earlier in the day, accompanied by Udupi district BJP president Kuilady Suresh Nayak, general secretary Manohar S Kalmadi, and other BJP leaders.
