Collaboration for Innovative Highway Engineering

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) and the Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) signed an MoU to share knowledge and innovative ideas related to highway engineering and other infrastructure works. The MoU aims to strengthen R&D activities in the road sector and provide a lead in the development of highway infrastructure. Both NHIDCL and CSIR-SERC are leading national organizations in their respective fields and are desirous of working together to achieve national objectives. The MoU signed between the two parties is a significant step towards enhancing the quality of research and development in the country. The collaboration will provide opportunities for the development of faculty in CSIR-SERC and NHIDCL’s technical officers, useful for internal capacity building.

MoU signed for sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and technologies in Highway Engineering

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) and the Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) in Chennai have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 23, 2023. The MoU aims to establish a collaboration between the two parties to share knowledge and innovative ideas related to highway engineering and other infrastructure works.

As per the MoU, NHIDCL and CSIR-SERC will jointly conduct research, development, and training activities in the area of highway infrastructure. This collaboration is expected to strengthen R&D activities in the road sector and provide a lead in the development of highway infrastructure.

The MoU was signed by Chanchal Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL, and Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director of CSIR-SERC, Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, Chanchal Kumar emphasized that the MoU sets a new benchmark of Government-Academia partnership and can enhance the learning process and open up new opportunities for the development of faculty in CSIR-SERC and NHIDCL’s technical officers. It will also be useful for internal capacity building.

NHIDCL is a CPSE under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) that promotes the survey, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and upgrading of national highways and strategic roads. CSIR-SERC, Chennai, is a premier research center in the country with a vision of becoming a center of excellence in education and research, producing global leaders in science, technology, and management.

Both NHIDCL and CSIR-SERC are leading national organizations in their respective fields and are desirous of working together to achieve national objectives. The MoU signed between the two parties is a significant step towards enhancing the quality of research and development in the country.
