More than 30 projects are currently being executed as part of the Smart City Mission in Mizoram, despite pandemic-related setbacks. The projects include the Laldenga Cultural Centre, which will be built on the Assam Rifles ground area in Aizawl, and whose foundation stone will be laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In addition to the cultural centre, Shah will also inaugurate the Assam Rifles complex at Zokhawsang near Aizawl on April 1. The pandemic has caused some delays in executing the Smart City Mission projects, but the government is determined to complete them as planned. Mizoram’s Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia announced these developments, and stated that ten more projects are in the pipeline. Tawnluia laid the foundation stone for a multipurpose ground at Aizawl’s Zarkaw area on Tuesday, and holds the Public Health Engineer and Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) portfolios.
