A 23-year-old man was arrested and a loaded, sawed-off semi-automatic rifle with a magazine containing ammunition was seized, Winnipeg police said.
Five minutes after noon on Saturday, officers went to the Aikins Street and Mountain Avenue area to report a man with a firearm.
Police say officers visited the area in a coordinated effort to find the man and soon after officers saw him walking west on the 400 block of Mountain Avenue.

He was arrested without incident, and police say they recovered a loaded, sawed-off Kodiak WK180C semi-automatic rifle with a magazine of .223 ammunition in a courtyard building within the same block of the arrest location.

Police say the serial number on the rifle was defaced and the magazine altered to increase its capacity for additional rounds.
A 23-year-old Winnipeg man is now facing multiple gun-related charges and police say he has been paroled by the Edmonton Institution, with advice to the Correctional Service of Canada.
An arrest warrant and suspension were subsequently issued, and the Winnipeg Police Department executed the warrant.
