Mason Mount’s talks with Chelsea over a new contract have stalled.
The Blues homegrown talent’s current contract expires in June 2024 but he is yet to commit his future to the club despite a number of offers.
Chelsea tried to tie up the 24-year-old last summer and in the fall but the midfielder turned them down.
Now The Athletic have reported that the talks have hit another stumbling block and have been halted for the time being.
This is due to the need for Graham Potter’s men to focus on finishing well in the top flight and in Europe, with them currently in 10th after a disappointing season.
As a result, talks between Mount and Chelsea are unlikely to resume until the summer.
Mount will then have just 12 months left on his contract, and Chelsea’s intention is to either secure the academy graduate with new terms or agree to a sale.
Under the ownership of Todd Boehly, it is understood that their intention is to avoid any of their players entering their last two years – let alone their last.

Mount was dropped for Chelsea’s games against West Ham and Borussia Dortmund but was brought back into the starting XI for the 1-0 loss to Southampton on Saturday.
The England international was a shadow of his former self last season, scoring three goals and registering six assists to seven goals and seven assists this time last year in a campaign that saw him score 13 and score 17 goals in total.
But news of his stalled contract talks will be music to Liverpool’s ears, given that they are set to sack him if Chelsea fail to sign him to a new contract.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to freshen up their midfield, currently only having inexperienced youngsters and aging stars at their disposal.
