IPL 2023: Kyle Jamieson injury – New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leader Kyle Jamieson has been kicked out of the Indian Premier League. The lanky pacemaker will undergo surgery for his back stress fracture. He will be out for at least 3-4 months, ending his hopes of playing IPL 2023. He will aim to return for the away tour of England in August. Jamieson’s replacement for the season will be announced by CSK shortly. “Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is having surgery later in the week. It was a trying and difficult time for Kyle and a great loss for us. He was fantastic when he rubbed shoulders with all our teams when he was part of them, ” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead has confirmed.

Kyle Jamieson injury: Having not played in an international cricket match since June, when he first injured his back in England, Jamieson was expected to feature in at least one of the upcoming Test matches. However, tests before the opener at Mount Maunganui revealed a second fracture, and Jamieson will now return to Christchurch for further evaluation.
“It’s really disgusting for Kyle to have this happen after working so hard to get back on the park,” Gary Stead, New Zealand’s head coach, remarked. Jamieson had the same problem while touring England last year, and has since returned.
“Since the injury in June, we have certainly taken a cautious approach to managing his return with regular monitoring by our medical staff which has included scans.
“Although Kyle is in no pain, the evidence is quite clear that he has a stress fracture and so he will return to Christchurch today and undergo a CT scan on Friday before deciding on next steps.”
During the IPL mini-auction, the four-time IPL champions focused on acquiring versatile players, and Jamieson’s injury forces CSK to resolve the succession issue. They will announce the replacement soon and will have alternatives such as Maheesh Theekshana, Nishant Sindhu, Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana.
