Voting for the biannual Free Students Union (FSU) election is being held in 60 constituent campuses and 1,040 affiliated campuses across Nepal. The election has been irregular for the last 14 years since 2065 BS. The voting, which began at 8:00 am, will continue until 4:00 pm. Security arrangements have been tightened in all colleges where the election is being held, including the TU Central Campus and the Kathmandu Valley-based Nepal Law Campus, Saraswoti Campus, Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus, Thapathali Engineering Campus, and Padma Kanya Multiple Campus. The election has been suspended in 13 campuses due to disputes among the students’ unions, while the FSU leadership has been elected unopposed in two constituent campuses and some affiliated campuses. The election is being held based on a mixed electoral system that will elect the president, secretary, treasurer, and 50% of the members through the direct (FPTP) electoral system and the vice president, joint-secretary, and 50% of the members through the proportional representation electoral system. The election in Tri-Chandra Campus has been rescheduled for March 23.
FSU Election: Voting Begins in Tribhuvan University Campuses Across Nepal
Voting has begun for the Free Students Union (FSU) election at the Central Campus of Tribhuvan University (TU) and its affiliated and constituent campuses across Nepal. The election, which is held biannually, had been irregular since 2065 BS. The voting began at 8:00 am and will continue until 4:00 pm. According to the TU Students Welfare and Sports Directorate Director, Pashupati Adhikari, security arrangements have been tightened in all colleges where the election is being held.

The TU officials stated that the FSU leadership has been elected unopposed in two constituent campuses and some affiliated campuses. The election has been halted in RR Campus, Amrit Science Campus, Patan Multiple Campus, Nepal Commerce Campus, and Bishwo Bhasha Campus. Likewise, the election has been suspended in Paschimanchal Engineering Campus, Pokhara-based Prithvi Narayan Campus, the Institute of Forestry, and Pokhara Nursing Campus, Thakur Ram Multiple Campus in Birgunj, Birendra Multiple Campus in Chitwan, Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus in Baglung, and Shree Sidhhanath Science Multiple Campus in Mahendranagar. The election in Tri-Chandra Campus has been rescheduled for March 23.
