Vision 2047: NE India's Tech Future

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) organized a two-day workshop for Northeast India on Technology Vision 2047. The workshop aimed to capture the thoughts and ideas of experts about future India, and brainstormed ideas about facilitating an ecosystem of allied technologies, promoting technology-aided development, and skilling of manpower in niche technologies in the region. The workshop was attended by over 60 experts and 70 students from different disciplines. Professor Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, emphasized the region’s rich biodiversity and unique agricultural products but noted a lack of storage facilities and other allied amenities. Prabhat Kamal Bezbaruah graced the event as the chief guest. With IIT Guwahati and TIFAC’s joint efforts, the workshop was successful in providing a platform for structured discussion on Technology Vision 2047 with stakeholders in Northeast India.

IIT Guwahati Hosts Workshop on Technology Vision 2047 for Northeast India

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) organized a two-day workshop for Northeast India. More than 60 experts and 70 students from different disciplines attended the event, along with faculty members, professionals, and stakeholders from various scientific fields invited from the 8 states of North-East India.

The workshop aimed to capture the thoughts and ideas of experts about future India. The participants discussed Technology Vision 2047 and brainstormed ideas about how to facilitate an ecosystem of allied technologies, promote technology-aided development, and skilling of manpower in niche technologies in the region.

During the workshop, Professor Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, emphasized the rich biodiversity of the North East region and the unique agricultural products that can tap into the world market. However, he noted that a lack of storage facilities and other allied amenities causes the products to perish before reaching the market.

Prominent industrialist Prabhat Kamal Bezbaruah graced the event as the chief guest. With IIT Guwahati and TIFAC’s joint efforts, the workshop was successful in providing a platform for structured discussion on Technology Vision 2047 with stakeholders in Northeast India.
