Mitchell later admitted to fleeing from the law enforcement, stating that his passenger Christophere Lewis instructed him to “punch it.” The police eventually found and stopped the vehicle, discovering more than $7,000 in cash, 226 grams of marijuana, and a loaded gun inside. Both Mitchell and Lewis were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and/or distribute, while Lewis was also charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.

Coach Nick Saban announced on Monday evening that Mitchell had been suspended from the team while the university gathered more information. The police report has been shared with AL.com.
