Director Anurag Kashyap, who often makes headlines for various reasons, is now in the news for supporting and praising the “most regressive” film Bakasuran. Twitter users slammed the filmmaker after he tweeted, “Bakasuran Hearing the good word of mouth for this film in the South… Congratulations my friend @natty_nataraj & Dir @selvaraghavan.”
Natarajan Subramaniam reacted to his tweet and wrote: “Thank you very much Anuraag…(folding hands emojis)”. One of the social media users wrote, “This is the most chastised film from Sanghi guys. Why are you marketing it without knowing the movie or people’s backgrounds. The second said, “Dear Anurag, you are one of the few quality directors. please don’t promote regressive movies just because natty is your friend. he can be a good cinematographer. but he is a sanghi. this film is regressive.

The third person commented: “Unexpected from you sir…the most regressive movie accusing women of sexual offences…please watch it and delete the tweet..” The fourth said: “Bhai kaafi respects hai Tumpe Aisa hi direct utke status mat daalna faltu log ke liye.The fifth said: “Promoting a pathetic movie just because natraj is your friend??unexpected mister.”
For the uninitiated Bakasuran includes Selvaraghavan, Tharakshi, Natarajan Subramaniam (Natty) and Gunanithi. Recently, Anurag revealed that it was the disappearance of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020 that made him pick up the phone and apologize to Abhay. He also revealed that someone from Sushant’s team contacted him three weeks before his death, but he refused to work with the late actor, which later made him feel guilty about Deol.
Speaking to News18, the director said: “The day the unfortunate incident surrounding SSR happened made me feel so bad. Three weeks before that someone was trying to contact me because they wanted to talk to me. But I said no because he ghosted me once and I didn’t know how to talk to him. I felt these pangs of guilt. That’s why I reached out to Abhay and I apologized to him because someone told me he was mad at me while I was speaking publicly about him.”
