The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly reached an agreement on a three-year contract with shortstop Bo Bichette. Bichette, who made his MLB debut in 2019, is set to make $25 million over the course of the contract. The deal also includes club options for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Bichette is projected to make $4 million in 2021, $7 million in 2022 and $14 million in 2023. The deal avoids an arbitration hearing, which had been scheduled for February 9th.
According to multiple reports, shortstop Bo Bichette avoided arbitration Tuesday night and agreed to a three-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Bichette, who was scheduled for arbitration later this week, is on track to be a free agent after the 2025 season.
Bichette, 24, hit .290 for Toronto last season and finished with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs as the Blue Jays advanced to the American League postseason.
He was moved in the lineup as the Blue Jays tried different combinations to fuel their offense over the summer, but by the time the playoffs rolled around he had settled in the No. 2 position. He hit .250 with a double in Toronto’s two-game loss to the Seattle Mariners.

The son of former MLB slugger Dante Bichette, Bichette is one of the Blue Jays’ confident leaders who isn’t afraid to be bold on the plate or on the ground trails. But he’s led the American League in hits for the past two seasons and is part of a star-laden core that has big plans in Toronto.
“He’s always been that type of guy [lets] his game speaks,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider last season. “But now he’s really coming into his own and not just leading by example.”
In four MLB seasons, all with Toronto, Bichette has 69 homers and 239 RBIs.
“I’ve known Bo a long time and the only thing that has stayed the same about him is how badly he wants to be great,” said Cavan Biggio, a Toronto infielder who, like Bichette, is the son of a former great player. Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. “How badly he wants to win. That attitude made him the person and leader he is today.”
