Paris Saint-Germain say Neymar did not suffer a broken ankle but it is unclear whether he will feature in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian superstar scored for PSG against Lille in their Ligue 1 clash and assisted Kylian Mbappe’s opener in their 4-3 win.
The French champions looked in good form after three rebound losses, with Neymar orchestrating a first-half lead.
But disaster struck when Lille’s Benjamin Andre got angry with the 31-year-old, seeing his ankle turn horribly in the wrong direction.
Neymar’s right foot bent when he hit the ground, seeing him write on the floor in pain as his teammates gathered.
After help from doctors, Neymar scrambled to his feet and was restrained by Mbappe, but quickly succumbed to the pain.
Dropping onto the stretcher, Neymar climbed onto it and punched the support in anger at his latest injury, looking almost in tears as he vented his frustration.
PSG said hours after the game the striker underwent an MRI which revealed there was no broken ankle, but further tests will be carried out.

Neymar was spotted in a casino after a Champions League loss to Bayern, with Mbappe commenting on conditioning to the press.
Clarifying his comments after the win over Lille, Mbappe said: “I never attacked or singled out Neymar when I mentioned we need to eat well and sleep well.
“I hope Neymar’s injury is not serious, I hope he comes back soon, we need him with us”.
The timing of the injury couldn’t be worse, with PSG entering a crucial stage of their season.
Three consecutive defeats saw PSG knocked out of the Coupe de France by Marseille, heavily beaten in Ligue 1 by Monaco and beaten 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 with Bayern Munich.
Neymar now looks doubtful for the second leg against Bayern in Munich, while the rumblings continue over a summer departure from Paris.
