A nurse’s accidental success that turned into an online empire is helping the next generation of healthcare workers.
On Monday, ER nurse Stephanee Beggs said Varney & Co. how she unknowingly turned a simple task into a great opportunity while preparing for an exam, Fox Business reported Sunday.
She started selling her notes once she graduated from nursing school, and the idea came about while she was studying for the board exam on her own during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I would teach myself on the wall and record it. And then I posted it on social media and people loved it,” Beggs recalled, adding that viewers then wanted to buy her study notes, so she set up an online store.
“So now I’m selling study sheets. I passed the boards a long time ago, and now I sell them for students approaching the board exam and taking tests in nursing school,” the young woman noted.
In a YouTube video, Beggs tells his subscribers that they no longer need to watch 30-minute videos to get the knowledge they need.
“That’s part of the reason why I’m adamant about short, concise breakdowns that get straight to the point,” she said:
In a recent Instagram post, Beggs shared an “ECG Rhythms Cheat Sheet” that covers atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, and premature ventricular contractions.
“Oh my goodness! The timing for cardiac content couldn’t be more perfect since I have to do AACN ECG Cert and ACLS/PALS next month!!! Thanksuuuuuu,” one follower commented.
His ticket-selling business on the Etsy website started in 2020 and generated $2 million in profit in 2022.
“If you buy a study sheet, only one study sheet on a [medical] condition, it’s $2 a sheet. I sell them in specific course bundles,” Beggs explained, adding that she also has giant bundles of notes for the entire nursing school.
The business has since become a full-time job, but Beggs continues to work as a nurse and also has a job as a college instructor.
