Mumford & Sons Headlining the ‘Rock the Park’ Premiere in London, Ontario – London

British folk-rock group Mumford & Sons will perform at London’s ‘Rock the Park’ this summer, festival organizers announced on Tuesday.

The Grammy and Brit Award-winning group, consisting of Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett, will headline the first night of the festival on Wednesday. July 12 at Harris Park.

Organizers also revealed the rest of the lineup on Wednesday, with Vance Joy, Bahamas and The Trews also taking the stage on day one of Rock the Park, with Vance Joy directly supporting Mumford & Sons.

The festival’s rock-focused shows on Wednesday and Saturday nights are sponsored by FM96, which is owned by Corus Entertainment, Global News’ parent company.

“We’re absolutely thrilled… and to think that they’ll only be doing six summer dates at festivals across North America and we got one of those, I’d say it’s a very proud moment for Rock the Park,” said Brad Jones, President of Jones Entertainment Group, the organization behind the festival.

“The response this morning was absolutely amazing… The buzz is probably double what we’ve ever seen and we’ve had sellouts before with The Tragically Hip and Snoop Dogg and Journey and stuff like that but social media is buzzing right now trending.”

The band’s Rock the Park performance follows a recent tour by Mumford in support of his self-titled debut solo album, due out in September.

Mumford & Sons’ last album was released in 2018 delta, produced by Paul Epworth. The album was the last to involve founding member Winston Marshall, who left the band in 2021.

Formed in London in 2007, Mumford & Sons won the 2012 Grammy for Album of the Year babel

Other acts set to perform on the Rock the Park stage this year include Ludacris, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Chingy and Ying Yang Twins on Friday 14th July and Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Cypress Hill, Silverstein and The Dirty Nile on Saturday. 15th of July.

Rock the Park’s Thursday line-up is expected to be revealed soon, along with a sixth act for Friday’s penultimate timeslot.

“People expect a country night and I don’t want to take my hat off to that right now, but there’s definitely going to be a fourth night here in the next few weeks,” Jones said.

“No breaking news at the moment, no contract signed, just lots of offers and it’s being worked through. I don’t want to give anyone false hope, but at the end of the day we’re very excited. I can tell you that this is for sure…it’s already the best received Rock the Park we’ve had in 18 years.”

Tickets for the first day of the festival go on sale at 10am on Friday.
