Revolutionize Your Career with Emerging Tech Minors

AICTE has introduced minor courses for engineering students on emerging technologies that are in demand in the job market. The initiative was first introduced in 2021 for CSE and EE and has now been extended to all engineering streams. The minors will help students earn 18 to 20 credit points that will be included in their grades upon completion of their degrees. The newly introduced minors will cover a wide range of subjects such as semiconductors, Integrated Circuits, advanced VLSI design, and 5G Technology for core engineering students. Mechanical engineering students can opt for minors in Aerodynamics and Artificial Intelligence, while Chemical engineering students can choose minors in Polymers and Biomolecules. Pursuing minors in emerging technologies can broaden the knowledge base of students and increase their employability upon graduation. The minor courses will be offered in online mode, and teachers will be trained to teach the emerging technologies.

AICTE, the governing body of technical education in India, has taken the initiative to introduce minor courses for engineering students on emerging technologies that are in demand in the job market. The initiative was first introduced in 2021 for Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Electrical Engineering (EE) and has now been extended to all engineering streams. These minor courses will help students earn 18 to 20 credit points that will be included in their grades upon completion of their degrees.

From semiconductors to biomolecules – new minor courses for core Engineering students

The newly introduced minors will cover a wide range of subjects such as semiconductors, Integrated Circuits, advanced VLSI design, and 5G Technology for core engineering students. Students in Mechanical engineering can opt for minors in Aerodynamics and Artificial Intelligence, while Chemical engineering students can choose minors in Polymers and Biomolecules. Previously, only Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Virtual and Augmented Reality (AR-VR) were offered.

According to Buddha Chandrasekhar, the Chief Coordinating Officer of AICTE, students must choose minor subjects that are related to their major degrees. Pursuing minors in emerging technologies can broaden the knowledge base of students and increase their employability upon graduation. The initiative aims to boost outcome-based learning, as the industry is becoming technology-driven, and there is a rise in demand for AI, cloud, and cybersecurity professionals.

The minor courses will be offered in online mode, and teachers will be trained to teach the emerging technologies. AICTE’s initiative will undoubtedly help students stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and prepare them for the ever-changing job market.
